Dear St. Joseph’s Parishioners,
I am Carrie Aragon, Director of Religious Education (DRE) at St. Joseph’s Parish. St. Joseph’s is the parish where I received my Confirmation and where Brenden and I were married. We have two children. My Master’s Degree in Pastoral Studies was received from Loyola University in New Orleans. I work with Marge Callahan, a long-time parishioner at St. Joseph’s, who oversees all of the administrative duties of RE. Christina Brigantino, our energetic Youth Group Leader is also a long-time parishioner. The Religious Education (RE) Office is located upstairs in the Pastoral Center (15 Railroad Avenue). Our office hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00am-2:00pm.
RE programs offered at St. Joseph’s are: Preschool (3-4 year olds); Kindergarten; Grades 1-5; Faith Formation II, Rite of Christian Initiation for Youth, Middle School Youth Group; High School Youth Group; Confirmation I and II.
Preschool and Kindergarten meet on Sundays; Grades 1-5 on Sunday, Monday or Wednesday, Youth Groups on Thursday evenings, and Confirmation on weekday evenings.
Please check the St. Joseph’s web site (www.stjchurch.org) to see upcoming events.
The Preschool and Kindergarten programs use the Seeds and Promise series from Pflaum Publishing Group. The elementary school children use Finding God from Loyola Press. The youth groups and Confirmation programs primarily use Youth Ministry Access.
The RE department sponsors many different events for our Parish youth including:
• NorCal on Fire (a praise and worship event held in Vallejo)
• Diocese of Monterey Youth Day (Confirmation teens attend)
• Confirmation II teens will attend an overnight retreat at Monte Toyon in Aptos
• L.A. Congress Youth Day
Training sessions are also offered for our Catechists. If you feel the call to help with our programs, please call the office, 455-8720.
Enjoy your children and thank you for sharing the St. Joseph’s RE Program with them. May God continue to bless your families with health, happiness and love.
Carrie Aragon, DRE
